Also, on spring break from teaching and just brought my kids to have outdoor lunch with a friend on his lunch break (from tree planting, he’s an arborist — usually pruning or cutting down trees but occasionally planting them too).
Thanks so much for taking the time to share all of this good stuff, Courtney! Relative to cohousing and intentional community (which I have found mostly a blessing and sometimes a challenging growth opportunity over the years 🤪), I wanted to share an episode of The Living Experiment podcast we did with some teachers out at Lafayette Morehouse (one of the longest running intentional communities in the country) about win-win relating (a term coined by their founder!) and what they call the "one no vote" principle of community living. I think it's applicable to folks in any kind of relationship but especially to those who are living together or under closely bonded and interdependent conditions. https://livingexperiment.com/winwin/
As always, I love so much in your work. Thank you for sharing it and welcome home!
I'm starting to host in-person workshops, hoping to bring my community together through creative play. I just scheduled a WRITE YOUR MOM! card-writing (and card-making) workshop for mothers (and mother figures) in advance of mother's day. I'm really looking forward to it.
Welcome home, and thank you for all the things you posted for listening and pondering! Love the picture!
Doing Mary G.’s (Substack) writing prompts!
