I earnestly support Courtney's valiant efforts today and she definitely has the ability to pursue the cause stated. I can claim to have witnessed her example as an inspirational public speaker who demonstrated extraordinary eloquence decades even as an undergrad when our college campus was in the midst of another epidemic: a terrible series of suicides among some of our finest students. Courtney reached inside and across the aisle in 2000, among all the members of our college community. This significantly included a resistant administration would didn't want Columbia/Barnard to become known as a "suicide school" because of intolerable stress over grades, etc. I vividly recall the ways that we tackled that problem and Courtney's leadership was as indispensable then as it is now.

Incidentally, I'd like to know if anyone has read yet the book reviewed in today's (Wed.) NY Times entitled "Love in the Time of Contagion. A Diagnosis" by Laura Kipnis (p.C.2) about "how relationships, including the author's, have changed during the pandemic." I can't decide from the review whether it's worth reading so I'd welcome reactions to it. DD
