This is beautiful Courtney! I love that you've been sharing your poetry. As always, your pieces resonate with me so deeply and seem to land in my inbox EXACTLY when I need them. "Admitting the universal pain of not being truly known"----what an unbelievably true sentence. Thanks for including me on your journey. I love being a part of "the examined family" community!
I love the LOVE in this poem! My misunderstanding mind was thinking from the title of the piece that there would be grievances to share, but, no, it is all about self-love, generosity, and love of each other!
thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection on misunderstanding!! "to realize that i have misunderstood; a reason to keep living!" and "the universal pain of not being known". these words are going to stay with me, what a gift thank you.

This misunderstood shark LOVES this poem. And, it came at EXACTLY the moment I needed to read it. Thank you Courtney!

These two lines:
The pleasure to be found from pursuing understanding is erotic.
To realize that I have misunderstood is a pinprick of light for me
Exactly!
Phenomenal. My paradigm has shifted.
Just gorgeous.
Thank you.
