Big announcement!
I am the new co-host of the Slate podcast How To! (Tagline = You’ve got questions. Together we get answers.) It’s exciting on lots of levels. The podcast is basically advice column meets investigative journalism. People call or write in with their questions on anything (truly, anything!) and we find an expert to get them their answers. As someone who is obsessively helpful (sometimes to a fault…working on that), deeply invested in redefining expertise, and widely curious—this is a dream gig for me. The icing on the cake is that I’m co-hosting with none other than Carvell Wallace, whose writing I find deeply moving and whose interviewing style is not only smart-as-hell, but deeply caring. Carvell wrote NBA star Andre Iguodala’s award winning memoir, The Sixth Man, as well as gorgeous profiles of people like Michael B. Jordan and Viola Davis, among so much else.
You may remember that I did a guest spot on the podcast this summer (“How to Show Up for a Friend With Cancer”) and yesterday my first official episode came out (“How to Find Love Where you Least Expect It”).
This week’s episode features a layered conversation about loneliness, love, and learning to distinguish between society’s scripts and our own authentic desires, and we’ve got my dear friend and feminist author Samhita Mukhopadhyay on to help us navigate it all. You can listen to it here:
Or wherever you like to listen to your podcasts. Subscribe, rate, and write a review if you’re so inclined. It really helps the podcast thrive.
And perhaps more than anything, please please write in or call and tell us what questions you need answers to. Send us a note at howto@Slate.com or leave us a voicemail at (646) 495-4001. I would love nothing more than to record a podcast episode with someone in the Examined Family community. You all have such deep questions and it would be fun to pursue answers on them together.
Thanks! DD
Squee! I am so excited for you! I cannot wait to listen xo
