I got to spend some time in Santa Fe, New Mexico this week—a place I have a deep connection to. My parents lived her for a long time and I got married in their backyard (with an all-female mariachi band, no less!). I highly recommend getting to New Mexico someday if you haven’t. The sky is magnificent—huge and sweeping and the summer rainstorms are an especially amazing experience. And, of course, the people, the food, the vibrant colors everywhere…it’s just so special.
I’ve been reading Ancestor Trouble—a personal and sociopolitical investigation into what our ancestors, and the quest to understand who they are, means about us. If you’re one of those people who has spent some time on websites tracking your past or reveled in stories about generations past (that may or may not be true!), you might enjoy this book.
