Fragments of a year
My friend and writer (who you should definitely be following, subscribing to etc.) Amanda Machado was inspired by Ocean Vuong’s poem “Notebook Fragments,” to start composing end-of-year poems out of the fragments found in her phone notes. This year, her third, is so beautiful. We went on a hike shortly after I read it and I pulled out my phone and read a few of my own fragments to her and we both ended up laughing and wondering as we wandered down the Redwood tree covered path. So here it is, my adaptation of Amanda Machado that is an adaptation of Ocean Vuong….

Every family is fucked up. White people mostly have ways of privatizing and hiding their pain that money affords.
